Guidelines for Preparing Your Manuscript for Electronic Submission
Abstract
You must provide two different forms of your abstract.
The abstract that is included as a section in your dissertation or thesis must meet all formatting guidelines. See Preparing and Filing Your Thesis or Dissertation.
Please include an English version of the abstract if the primary language of your dissertation is not English.
The second version is submitted separately from the dissertation to PQIL Thesis and Dissertation Publishing.
The abstract that is submitted to PQIL must be formatted as shown in the example here. The body of the abstract cannot exceed 350 words; double-spaced. It is important to write an abstract that gives a clear description of the content and major divisions of the dissertation, since PQIL will publish the abstract exactly as submitted. Students completing their requirements under Plan A should provide extra copies of the typed summary for use by the dissertation committee during the examination.
Title Page
To prevent the release of digital signatures, do not include the signed title page in your submitted manuscript. Using the example provided, prepare your title page with the names of your thesis or dissertation committee typed in the places indicated.
Make an appointment with your Student Affairs Officer in Graduate Studies to submit the signed title page and required forms.
Manuscript Specifications
Your manuscript must be submitted in PDF form. No compression; no password protection; no digital signature. You are responsible for the appearance of your manuscript in PDF. It will appear and may be downloaded exactly as you submit it.
See Preparing and Filing Your Thesis or Dissertation for specific formatting requirements.
Make sure all your fonts are embedded fonts. See the instructions for embedded fonts on the Electronic Thesis and Dissertation Web site.
