Project Ideas

Project proposals are a primary part of the selection criteria for admission to the Professors for the Future (PFTF) program. Your project idea or activity must seek to enhance the experience of other UC Davis graduate students and/or postdoctoral scholars. The purpose of the project is to provide PFTF fellows with an opportunity to develop communication and leadership skills and to explore the university beyond the boundaries of their disciplinary areas of interest. PFTF encourages students and scholars to be venturesome and creative in the designing suggesting project ideas, but also encourages them to consider building on the projects of past Fellows where appropriate. For examples of past projects, see the "Fellows" section of http://gradstudies.ucdavis.edu/pftf/fellows. If you have additional questions, please contact Teresa Dillinger or (530) 752-7566.

PLEASE ANSWER THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS:

1. Please describe a specific need or problem relevant to the lives of graduate students and postdoctoral scholars on this campus.

  • What type of project would you propose to address this need or problem?
  • How would working on this project enhance your personal and professional development?
  • How would you assess and evaluate the success of this project? (650 words or less for Section 1)

2. Please discuss your personal and professional reasons for applying to the Professors for the Future program. Discuss your background, experience, and expertise - especially in the areas of leadership and service – and how they would help you to contribute to the program (250 words or less for Section 2).

3. Please describe your academic/professional interests and goals (250 words or less for Section 3).
